Apprenticeship Programs

Would you like to drive a $350,000 ride?

Having a CDL license is one of the most competitive professions in the nation and also here in San Antonio. In our apprenticeship program, we will pay you to earn one. Starting as a temporary employee, you will receive paid on the job training on how to maneuver our fleet of trucks.

Once you complete the training and pass the examination, you will be eligible to apply for permanent employment with the Solid Waste Department as a driver. And unlike long-haul truckers, you will be home with your family every night.

The basic qualifications are a high school degree or GED equivalent and a class C driver’s license. The program is open to men and women.
