The City will collect dead animals from residences and on city streets. City personnel cannot collect dead animals from under buildings, attics, ditches, or from private property. Stained Mattresses

Mattresses or other bedding that is stained with blood, urine, feces or are infested with fleas or bedbugs are not excepted at either curbside or drop off centers. Take these to the landfill.

Medical Sharps Disposal

These items should be disposed of with care. If you generate needle waste in your household, you can either: Place needles and syringes in a hard plastic or metal container with a tightly secured lid. Seal and reinforce its lid with heavy-duty tape. Dispose of the sealed container in the household trash. OR Take your properly containerized needles and syringes to an authorized facility for treating medical waste.

Medical Waste Disposal

It is legal to put prescription medications in the trash without any special treatment. Special treatment is only recommended for those medicines on the FDA “flush list.”

Check with your pharmacy to see if they participate in DisposeRx. DisposeRx is an environmentally-friendly, at-home medication disposal for unused medications and provided at no cost to the customer upon request.
